Although most of the Canning Mudhogs activities are self-sustaining, it takes a dedicated group of individuals to ensure that everything runs smoothly. All positions are appointed, and are filled by members who are eager to volunteer their time to the organization to ensure that it continues to grow and thrive. Each of the members of the "Executive" volunteers their time, energy, and sometimes even money, to help to make the Canning Mudhogs organization better in any way possible.
director - Brock Murray
The Canning Mudhogs are the brainchild of Brock. Although the group was created just for fun on a whim back in 1995 by a bunch of guys playing road hockey together, Brock has taken the reins and steered the Mudhogs into a viable, not-for-profit organization. From the early days of booking tournaments for one team of 6-8 guys, to creating a business venture which encompasses an 8 team mens league as well as 5 tournament teams, with approximately 100 players, Brock continues to steer the vision of the Canning Mudhogs organization.
assistant director / media design - Duke Rupert
Duke is one of the original members of the Canning Mudhogs, and is the oldest member. Being the oldest member of the team, and starting when many of the other players were only 14 or 15 years old, Duke has been relied upon to provide guidance and maturity for the group. He provides any assistance to Brock which may be required in setting up tournament teams and leagues, assisting with travel arrangements and hotel bookings, and is also responsible for media design for the team, such as display posters, email, newsletters, and creating and maintaining the 3 websites, www.thehogsden.com, www.cirhl.com, and www.4ss.ca.
league assistant- Darryl Dempsey
Darryl is a recent addition to the Canning Mudhogs organization, but has jumped in with both feet. He is always available if needed by Brock, to act as a sounding board for ideas, to pitch in and help when there is any grunt work that needs to be done, and generally will do just about anything that he can to help out with the organization. Darryl has been a key component to the success of the Canning Roller Hockey League over the last couple of years, and also volunteers his time coaching with the Under 6 Cubs team.
treasurer / ladies convenor - Sara Murray
Sara has been a cornerstone of support for the Canning Mudhogs since the beginning as well. She helps Brock in managing the finances of the team and 4 Season Sports, and acts as a convenor for the successful ladies team which has been added recently. Sara can always be found close by at the rink, ready to help out with whatever is needed as well.
