hog life

Hog Life

Each year the Mudhogs host a number of extra-curricular events that are seperate from the tournaments that the team attends. These events have come to be known as Hog Life.

The four events are described below. Click on each link for more information about each Hog Life Event.

any given sunday

Any Given SundaySunday Pickup Hockey running September through April, culminating with the Ironman 2 on 2 Tournament. Its Sunday morning 8:30AM your alarm is set for 9:00AM but you are awake early and not sure why? There is a thick layer of frost on your car which in a couple months will be snow, and although it would be nice to just stay in bed you are pulled to get up and begin your day. Sound familiar?

Xmas eve cup

Xmas Eve CupGood friends, a few beers and a lot of hockey is what best describes the Mudhogs Annual X-mas Eve Cup. It started out as a pickup ball hockey game to pass the time on Christmas Eve. Who would have thought hanging outside in the freezing cold with a hockey stick in one hand and a cold beer in the other would be so much fun. But wait a minute lets rethink that after all we are all Canadian and it just makes sense.

hog bowl

Hog BowlYears ago, when the Mudhogs started to go their seperate ways in the fall, when the older guys went away to school and the younger guys stayed back home in high school, the group seemed to drift apart a little bit. No longer could you just get together any day of the week and play a game of pickup hockey or basketball. This was in the time before the late fall tournaments were played, and before Any Given Sunday started. This was the time of the inception of the Hog Bowl.

canning classic

Canning ClassicWhat do you get when you take a group of hoodlums to a former pasture, turn them loose with a bag of sticks and a small car, and plan to sear some beef and poultry after on an open flame? Why, the Canning Classic of course.

The Canning Classic began with a home made pitch and putt course located next door to the famed Gallant Gardens, and graduated to a complete, 18 hole scramble involving numerous teams.
