Canning ClassicWhat do you get when you take a group of hoodlums to a former pasture, turn them loose with a bag of sticks and a small car, and plan to sear some beef and poultry after on an open flame? Why, the Canning Classic of course.

The Canning Classic began with a home made pitch and putt course located next door to the famed Gallant Gardens.
It grew however, and soon had to be moved to an actual golf course. And thus the actual Canning Classic Golf Tournament was born.

The Woodstock Meadows was home to the Canning Classic for a number of years. Starting with 2 threesomes around 1995, the tournament has grown to encompass the entire Mudhogs family, just as all of the other Hog Life events have. There are now in excess of 30 players coming out to enjoy a leisurely round of golf, followed by a barbecue afterward where everyone can share their tales of that "One Great Shot - You Should Have Seen It"

Due to the fact that the Woodstock Meadows has become a Toyota Motors Car Plant, the Canning Classic had to adopt a new home for 2007. What more fitting of a course could be found than the Paris Golf and Country Club? Didn't 95% of the Mudhogs learn to play golf there in the first place, during Phys Ed at PDHS? Now however, the Woodstock Meadows has rebuilt and is a beautiful course to play. Look for the re-emergence of the Canning Classic in the summer of 2010.
