The Hogs Den

Canning Mudhogs Roller Hockey : Representing Canning & Area since 1995

any given sunday

Its Sunday morning 8:30AM your alarm is set for 9:00AM but you are awake early and not sure why? There is a thick layer of frost on your car which in a couple months will be snow, and although it would be nice to just stay in bed you are pulled to get up and begin your day. Sound familiar?

The AGS tradition began in London at the North London Optimist Centre, moving to the Woodman Rec Centre in Brantford in 2006 due to construction in London.

rules and regulations

  1. Five minute games. Call your own fouls/penalties.
  2. 2 on 2.
  3. Three Team League. Three regulars per team. The spare players will be selected by the captains at the beginning of each Sunday as they arrive. Order of selection will be to pick a number between 1 and 50. Closest to the number will get you the first pick. If there is only one or two non-regular players then you will still want to win the number picking so you can determine if you even want a player on that day
  4. A shootout will determine which teams play first. Team 1 shoots and does not score. Team 2 shoots and scores. Team 3 shoots and does not score. Team 2 will be one of the two teams that start. Now team 1 and 3 will shoot until one of them scores and the other team is not able to match it in that round. If the shootout continues for more than 10 minutes without a winner being determined the sticks of each of the captains remaining will be placed in the center. One player will be randomly selected to draw a stick from the pile after the sticks have been mixed. The player will have their eyes closed when doing this. Whichever stick or sticks are drawn will be the teams that start the day.
  5. Once the two teams have won the right to play first, it is a winner stays on situation.
  6. First team to win 5 games wins the day. Two points awarded for winning the day. One point awarded for finishing second and no points for third. If it is a tie between 2nd and 3rd a shootout will occur if time permits, otherwise each team will receive one point.
  7. It is a two hour time limit on the day. If we have a winner before the two hours is up we will continue on and start a new series to five. If we are unable to finish, it will carry over into next week. Things may be different in that week because new faces may be there to play. They will be added as normal and it will continue on.
  8. If we only have the bare minimum for skaters (range from 6-9) we will only play for the hour and a half. If we have over that number we will play for the two hours.
  9. If your goalie is unable to play, you will use one of the other goalies depending on who you are playing
